Though I’ve spent the past several months in Aix, I’ve done a bit of traveling here and there too. Several friends and I went to Barcelona for part of our mid-winter break and it was a stellar trip.

We didn’t do the normal touristy things, like Parc Güell or any of the well-known museums. We just relaxed on the beach, ate some delicious food, explored the markets, and went to the odd off-beat museum. 

Mostly, it was just fun to get to know these three lovely women. I’ve experienced Aix with them and now have traveled with them a bit. Better travel companions would be hard to find.

As Emerson said in his essays, it’s on us to find the beauty in our travels. It isn’t made by the place or the people or what you do. I saw how beautiful Barcelona could be for me. Someday I’ll be back with a different outlook and find even more wonderful things to love.
